In 2022, thanks to the support of the Fundación Mapfre Canarias, I got a grant for making a dream come true: commissioning new pieces to composers from the Canary Islands and recording these new pieces in a CD. That’s how I decided to begin one of the most enthusiastic projects of my life; not only playing and recording the pieces for the CD, but also managing all the organization required to accomplish this project. Contacting the composers, getting their pieces, hiring a sound engineer, contacting some venues to record the CD, make an agreement with the record label company, hiring a pianist for some of the pieces, paying a visual artist for creating some paintings through the new pieces, taking care of the design of the CD… Eventually it took me a long time to carry through with the project, but it has been one of the most appreciated learning of my life.

That’s how I started the project commissioning new pieces to Samuel Aguilar, Germán Medina Calle and Rubens Askenar, along to other two pieces that were composed in 2006 and 2020 by Samuel Aguilar as well and Javier Afonso (all of them composers from the Canary Islands, Spain). After getting and recording these pieces, an amazing visual artist, Leticia Vázquez, created five paintings by listening the pieces recorded for the CD.

It was very meaningful the fact that I could cooperate with other art disciplines, and the final result has been highly appreciated y all the people who collaborated and participated in this significant project.

The contact with the record label is a very important aspect to consider while publishing a CD, and I had the great chance to count on Calle 440: a very promising record label that aims to support young musicians and especially contemporary music. Thanks to them, I could publish the CD and finally carry out this project.
Besides, all the benefits from the selling will be donated to Barrios Orquestados, a non-profit organization from the Canary Islands which aims to support neighborhoods with special needs. With that, we will help them to buy new instruments so that they can continue to carry the music to many places in need.
It’s possible to buy the CD through the website of the record label Calle 440 or directly contacting me through Contact page of this website.
Thank you for the support!
